All of my life I’ve had a passion for helping others be healthy and not suffer or be limited by poor eating habits. This led me to study nutrition and to be come a registered dietitian-nutritionist. I wanted to help people find their best health and live their best life by eating well, using the power of nutrition.

As things go, I went through my own difficult relationship with food, which started in college and lasted about 10 years after. I was eventually  diagnosed with an eating disorder that had kept me bingeing on food almost every night (and sometimes days). Originally, my out of control eating started as a way for my body to cope with the stress of constant food restriction, from wanting to get "thinner", even though looking back I was perfectly thin. But the eating also became a way I found comfort during the stress of college. And even after the stress was gone, I still binged. It had become a habit that kept me stuck in a vicious cycle of overeating & then restricting food & over-exercising to compensate. As a registered dietitian-nutritionist I felt so incongruent because here I was the food & nutrition expert, yet food was my biggest struggle. 


I finally hit a rock bottom when my husband left and ended up going to eating disorder treatment. However, I never felt like I fit in or belonged there, and I was still leaving each day and going home and overeating at night and feeling out of control with food because that was just my “normal”.  The “real me” didn’t want to do it, but it was this deeply ingrained compulsive habit that I could not resist or willpower my way out of. I finally made the decision to leave therapy and I went on my own journey of healing and self-discovery that took me on a rewarding path of personal development. I ultimately stopped bingeing and finally found that freedom with food I so wanted. My relationship with food became peaceful, balanced, in-control, and easy.

What I learned from my own struggle with food is that the reason food restriction & mainstream diet programs don’t work for 98% of people is because they work against your body and your mind. They ultimately send you deeper into the struggle because biological & psychological survival mechanisms kick in and cause us to 'rebel'.  They also don’t address what’s on the inside of you, at the root of the problem, which is your thoughts & feelings that are driving all the 'out of control' behavior with food. What’s sabotaging your eating & weight isn’t a lack of willpower, it’s actually #1 your biology & #2 your thoughts and feelings... about food, about your eating, about your body, about yourself, and about your life.  I call these the 5 Key Relationships that need to be transformed for you to have lasting peace and freedom with food & your body.
