And if in the past few years you did lose weight, it’s very likely that you regained it all back again.

You’ve been using food, for non-food reasons. It’s what I call an ‘emotional hunger’ that leads you to feel frustrated with yourself. Trust me, I get it
I went through a very difficult relationship with food with an eating disorder that kept me emotionally overeating and bingeing as a way to cope with stress and find comfort. This coupled with over-exercising because I was so afraid of gaining weight. But what I realized is that even after the stress was over in my life, I had developed a habit that kept me in the same vicious cycle until I felt completely out of control. As a registered dietitian-nutritionist I felt so incongruent because here I was as the expert yet food was my biggest struggle. I began a journey of healing and discovery that took me on a path of personal development until I finally found freedom and my relationship with food became peaceful, balanced, in-control and easy. What I realized is the reason why most diet programs don’t work is because they work against your body instead of with your body, and they don’t address what’s on the inside of you that is driving the behavior that keeps you going for the bag of chips until there’s only crumbs left. What’s sabotaging your weight loss isn’t a lack of willpower (despite what you might keep on telling yourself), it’s actually your beliefs, thoughts and feelings about food and about yourself.
